General description

A derivative of papaverine that blocks Ca²⁺ channels (principally the L-type) in smooth and cardiac muscle cells. Vasodilator and antiarrhythmic agent. Inhibits the entry of Ca²⁺ through voltage-dependent Ca²⁺ channels in cell membranes. Blocks both activated and inactivated Ca²⁺ channels. An adrenergic antagonist. Induces apoptosis of human primary and metastatic colon adenocarcinoma cell lines in vitro.
